Biography:
Kashan Bashir is currently a doctoral student at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. In my dissertation, I investigate the possibility of producing biomass derived 2,5-furandicarboxylic (FDCA) acid from biomass using non-precious catalysts as an alternative to terephthalic acid (TPA). I am especially interested in the research and development of monomers, polymers, and organic acid polymers derived from biomass. My current research and development efforts are directed toward improving polymer refining techniques that utilize biomass as a replacement for fossil fuels and therefore decreasing their carbon footprint.
